Regarding your question: Do you think that the orbit of the earth will shrink over time to meet the prophecy of the extreme heat upon earth?
NO.
(1) Within a few billion years from now, the sun will eventually use up its fuel of Hydrogen and no longer will not be able to exert pressure AGAINST gravity due to its mass. Therefore, it will shrink and in so doing it will heat up and expand very much like a great fire ball and swallow up the earth and burn up the earth's protective atmosphere.
(2) However, long before that fire ball event, one of the inner planets (because of its present orbital path) will slowly but surely collide with earth smashing into earth with such a great force that everything on earth will become almost dust. For sure, there will be no water and life as we know it. Bacteria and fungus, or maybe virus may survive for a longer time.
(3) In the end, the whole of the universe will grow bigger and bigger. It will become colder and colder. All the light of the universe will become dimer and dimer, until there will be complete darkness. There will be complete darkness and total silence. If we exist in the distance future, we ourselves will become so big that we will not be able to see or touch our noise or hear our screams of loneliness. We will be all alone in a state of unconsciousness. We will one day stop thinking and stop feeling. We will become not ourselves. We will be pulled apart into little bits and pieces of matter floating in space and moving away from the rest of what remains of us. There is no force in nature to pull everything back together. This is because nature by design is blowing itself up into nothingness. We will disappear into darkness. There will be no more light in the universe. What light that remains will eventually bur itself out. No more stars will form. No more of anything will be able to form into life. There will be nothing, because everything that was will be so far apart from everything else that ever was.
(4) From the time when the universe first came into being it started to expand and expand until there will be nothingness. The universe may re-create itself in the distant future, maybe.
(5) This is the scientific evidence from measurements of how fast everything is spreading apart. Everything is running away from everything else. This is the present situation of the universe.
(6) Whatever happens to the earth or the universe, we will not know about it. Those events will come to pass in the distant future. What we are certain is what we can see of the distant pass by looking at the star light that reaches our eyes. Those events happen long ago and far away. It is because we have eyes and a big brain that we are able to see and measure for ourselves events of the past.
